Mute a noisy chat. Turn on Quiet Mode and your messages wait until quiet hours end. Choose which alerts you get for messages, calls and mentions. Free up space and move to a new phone with chat backup, which needs your recovery key.

What to know
We would rather you know the limits up front.
- Personal chats, one-to-one and groups, are end-to-end encrypted. Group chats are also protected on our servers.
- Chats inside an organization are run by that organization and are not end-to-end encrypted.
- Locked and hidden chats need a passphrase you set yourself.
Questions
Can I use it on my phone and on the web?
Yes. Sign in on your phone and link the web with your phone number. Your chats show up on both.
Can I hide a private chat?
Yes. In Settings, Locked and hidden chats, set a passphrase. You can lock a chat or hide it until you enter the passphrase.
How do I stop alerts at night?
Turn on Quiet Mode in Settings and pick your hours. Messages are held and you get them when quiet hours end.
Is it free?
Chats and calls are free for people.
